I got surprisingly good feedback from several friends about my previous post, concerning the tasteless and rather ridiculous excesses of the christmas lights decorations in this time of year. Now I would like, if I may, to address a related but far more serious issue.
KEEP THE SKIES DARK!

The artificial illumination from millions of homesteads, football field floodlights, billboards, cars and so on, casts a sickly glow on the night sky...
Amateur astronomers and even major observatories become more and more frustrated (the Griffith Observatory in California is already useless) as the vulgarity of the city lights creeps a little bit further every day , obscuring perhaps the only glimpse of the infinite that we are ever going to be afforded.

Unfortunately, gone are those days when the Junkers, the Heinkels, the Lancasters and the B-29s would blast such pathetic arrogance back to the stone age in a blazing inferno of carpet bombing relays.
STOP THE EXCESSIVE ARTIFICIAL ILLUMINATION.
For every light that we switch on on the Earth, a star disappears from the sky.
Shame.

Following the submission of the last post, some important facts about "the Bishop" have to be accentuated: Not only does He communicate as a secular "web logger", but his being intellectually ample and apt set his writings in devine distinction among the humble residents of the blog community; The last attempt nevertheless, seems to possess immense pedantic beauty offered in a simplified manner so that everyone could grasp its truth...and moreover become an "insider" of the cyber-mystique...
The values and virtues stressed here...touch the very soul of our own...

Εγώ αρνούμαι να γράψω στα αγγλικά, το βρίσκω υπερβολικά πομπώδες. Εντούτοις, οφείλω να ομολογήσω ότι βρήκα εξαιρετική τη φράση για τα φώτα και τα αστέρια.
Φίλτατη, Δε βρίσκω "πομπώδες" το να χρησιμοποιούμε μια διεθνή γλώσσα σε ένα μέσο που αν μη τι άλλο απευθύνεται σε όλο τον πλανήτη (πλην μερικών εξαιρέσεων). Το διαδίκτυο είναι το πλανητικό μας σπίτι..κι εδώ δε χωρούν στείροι τοπικισμοί. Γιατί κάποιος να περιορίσει το κοινό του αποκλειστικά για το λόγο του γλωσσικού εμποδίου; Και ας δώσουμε ενα απλό παράδειγμα..φαντάσου τα Ευαγγέλια όλα να γράφονταν αποκλειστικά στα Αραμαϊκά και όχι στα ελληνικά για τους ίδιους λογους που εσύ θεωρείς πομπώδη τα αγγλικά...
Δεν τίθεται αναλογία των ευαγγελίων με τα γραπτά του "Επισκόπου"..αλλά φαντάζομαι θα κατάλαβες το πνεύμα των λεγόμενών μας..
Σημείωση: Ακόμα και ο Ματθαίος ο οποίος έγραψε αρχικά το Ευαγγέλιό του στα αραμαϊκά, ο ίδιος το μετέφρασε στα ελληνικά...Και για να μη μείνουμε σε θρησκευτικά κείμενα..ένα άλλο παράδειγμα είναι ο Φραντς Κάφκα που όντας τσέχος έγραφε στα γερμανικά...
